Lifecycle Updates

  • @Casey Cain reviewed the Lifecycle states and templates with the community. After discussion, they agreed to review and vote on the revisions at the February 4th TAC meeting.

There was discussion about what the TAC and LFN Priorities are for 2026. @Casey Cain shared the Board’s 2026 Priorities.

Board 2026 Priorities

  1. LFN Community & Ecosystem 

    1. Continue momentum as the collaboration hub - specific call outs

      1. L3AF ecosystem expansion & open telemetry integration

      2. RAN, AI & End to End Super Blueprints 

      3. Increased focus on AI & Networks (AI for NW, NW for AI) , including Switch Fabric 

      4. Add 5G core and Transport (IP/Optical) to Network Automation & Blueprints and projects including IOWN integration

      5. TMF & ETSI alignment for Autonomous Network (including AI workstreams) 

      6. Build Connections with other open source AI communities

    2. New Enterprise Verticals enabled by AI, 5G, Cloud Native and Convergence

  2. Technology Opportunities

    1. Align Use cases with Projects (include observability) 

    2. Make Network Data AI Ready & focus on new experiences/use cases by marrying NW and AI

    3. AI Projects- increase synergy with Agentic AI and others plus nurture and grow - include Agentic AI testing in SBP

    4. Thought Leadership in Domain Specific AI

    5. NTN/Satellite blueprint or projects

    6. 6G Research (Spec in Code) & 6G use cases (ISAC? xR, Drones, spectrum sensing) - investigate communities 

  3. Operational and Marketing

    1. Re-evaluate Event strategy globally

    2. Continue and expand Collaboration Hub messaging with thought leadership on key trends

    3. Harmonize across other LF OSS projects and foundations 

    4. Support for Developers and LFN community
