2023-11 - Anuket: What is the future of Anuket
Short Description
60m / @Gergely Csatari
In this session Gergely will report on the progress of the strategic planning work what the TSC Task Force is doing and discuss possible future strategies for Anuket with the audience.
Topic Overview
Anuket is slowly loosing contributors and also seemingly the interest of the LFN board itself. Couple of months ago the TSC decided to create a Task Force to investigate how the project can provide the most value for the industry. In this session we will discuss what did we learn in the task force meeting and brainstorm different future strategic directions for Anuket.
Assesment of sub-project status:
Kubref - Target for Pieman is to deploy Kuberef with Sylva and compare with RA2 requirements.
Barometer - @Rohit Singh Rathaur takes over from Emma the PTL role
Vineperf - There is no PTL
Thoth – PTL (Rohit Singh Rathaur )
RM - active, but heavily relies on Walter Kozlowski as a PTL, who is doing the work to move to GSMA docs repository and updates to add new technology
RA1 - mature, only doc theme related changed in Orinoco
RI1 - mature, only doc theme related changed in Orinoco
RC1 - merged to RA1, no changes in Orinoco
RA2 - Active, but limited on resources (3 active contributors)
RI2 - Active, but limited on resources
RC2 - Cedric Ollivier is now PTL and re-activated. 1 active contributor
Functest, functest-kubernetes - active, relies on Cedric Ollivier alone
Possible merger with the CNF CNF* projects in
RA2 and CNF WG are dealing with similar problems but from a bit different angle. I think the most optimal would be to merge the CNF WG to RA2 to keep the GSMA publication
RC2 selects a set of CNF Conformance cases for CNF testing. I think CNF Conformance should test also RA CaaS compliancy
Functest is testing CNF compliance, but only via calling CNF Testbed. I would propose to use CNF Testsuite directly to test CNF conformance
Functest is testing CaaS platform compliance, similarly to CNF Testbed, but the Testbed is not really a compliance test and not really maintained
RI2 is investigating to use Sylva as a reference platform. I wold suggest to keep Sylva RA2 compliant and use it as RI2
Focus areas
Generic architecture evolution (RM)
How to keep the focus here? Do we want to keep focus at all?
Cloud native (RA2, RI2, RC2)
Where to focus here?
CNF cloud nativeness
CNF LCM and operability
CNF - CaaS platform compatibility
CaaS platform operability
VNF (RA1, RI1, RC1)
Very stable
Mostly OpenStack version updates if any
Implementation and research projects
Barometer
Thoth
