Agenda

  • We will start by mentioning the project's Antitrust Policy, which you can find linked from the LF and project websites. The policy is important where multiple companies, including potential industry competitors, are participating in meetings. Please review and if you have any questions, please contact your company legal counsel. Members of the LF may contact Andrew Updegrove at the firm Gesmer Updegrove LLP, which provides legal counsel to the LF.

Security & Quality Goals

  • @Muddasar Ahmed discussed setting security and quality goals for the LFN and the Projects.

    • @Muddasar Ahmed suggested a visionary statement:

      • Visionary Statement: "We aspire to lead by example, fostering a culture of unwavering dedication to software quality and security. Through meticulous testing, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management, we aim to deliver capabilities that exceed user expectations and reinforces trust in Opensource Software."

      • Our commitment to software quality and security is unwavering. We envision a culture where every member of our organization embraces these principles as essential elements of our work. To achieve this vision, we pledge to implement rigorous testing processes at every stage of development, leveraging automation and advanced tools to ensure thorough analysis of our code. Furthermore, we will prioritize continuous improvement, actively seeking feedback from users, stakeholders, and other LF communities to drive iterative enhancements. By proactively identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities, we will fortify our software against emerging threats. Our goal is not just to meet industry standards but to set new benchmarks for excellence. Through our dedication to quality and security, we will inspire confidence in our users and demonstrate our unwavering commitment to their success.

  • @Amy Zwarico quality and security keep getting kicked down the road.

    • The recent xz hack is a perfect example.  Our code will be used in critical environments.  We need to do better if we are going to be successful.

    • The proposal does not necessarily apply to Sandbox and Incubation projects, but should be mandatory for Graduated projects.

    • Fixing vulnerabilities does add work to the project, but we can not get away without doing the work.

Next TAC Meeting

  • The next TAC meeting will be canceled for ONE Summit / D&TF.

  • The TAC will reconvene May 15, 2024
